KEEP YOUR ENVIRONMENT CLEAN – ONI-OKPAKU URGES RESIDENTS.
The Honorable Commissioner for Ministry of Environment and Sustainability, Dame Omoua Alonge Oni-Okpaku has reiterated the need for residents in the state to keep their surroundings clean always.
Dame Oni-Okpaku made this known in Benin City when she inspected the on-going desilting and excavation of silt and and debris along Uselu New Lagos Road, Benin City.
The Commissioner said desilting of drains and drainages must be done always to allow free flow of flood to the right source.
She urged residents in the area to desist from dumping refuse in unauthorized areas especially when it rains, saying that drainage channels must be cleared regularly to avoid flooding.
She called on the residents to key into Governor Godwin Obaseki’s bid of curbing flood menace to its barest minimum by engaging in proper sanitary practices.
Other areas inspected by the Commissioner include Arousa Street, Ihama Road, Ibiwe, Evbiemwen Street, Akenzua and Stadium Road including water receptacles in Ihama and Boundary Road where desilting work is ongoing.
